Biography:
His family originally came from Racconigi, his father was in the service of the King of Sardinia. From 1748 to 1755 Vittorio Amedeo is mentioned as one of the pupils of Claudio Francesco Beaumont’ s school of drawing in Turin. Between 1754 and 1760 he had painted the canvas of San Luca (kept in the Accademia Albertina in Turin) and the Annunciation for the church of the Santissima Annunziata in Turin. In 1768 he worked in Turin at the Royal Palace and at Stupinigi, where he painted for the chapel the altarpiece of the Vision of Saint Hubert, considered one of his masterpieces. In 1778 he became professor of painting at the Royal Academy of Turin.
