Artist of self-taught formation, Checa began his career with the group Pont de Fusta. In his first years he will obtain the first prize of the Contest of Fast Painting of Valencia, and from that moment he bursts in the plastic world with overwhelming force. Since then he will be known, praised and imitated. He exhibited his work since 1973, when he made his debut at the Valencian Press Association
